After getting totally wasted and trashed during the weekends, Sunday has become the world’s ‘recovery day’. Just chill at home, do nothing, smoke some spliff, and enjoy your day. This is an article that consists of simple and easy recipes, fresh, doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare at home, and a perfect lazy Sunday activity. It’s not necessarily super healthy, but these recipes are easy to make and guaranteed to be a lifesaver when munchies strikes. Because one of the key factor of a successful ‘recovery day’ is a healthy supply of herbs and enough food. You could always pick up the phone for delivery order, or wait patiently for something to pass by, but the thing is. . . you probably wouldn’t be making much impression on that hot thing who apparently came home with you last night.
1. Beef Wrap
Tortilla Wrap can be used as a substitute for bread and rice as carbs. This next recipe is one of the examples of how easy, ‘complete’, and filling it is.
– 350gr Beef Sirloin Steak
– 1/2 cup of your favorite Barbecue Sauce
– Black pepper
– 1 pack Mix Greens
– Sour Cream (optional)
– 1 Green Paprika
– 1 Red Paprika
– 3 Tomatoes
– 2 garlic cloves
– 1 Lemon
– Enough Coriander leaves
– Extra Virgin Olive Oil
– Black pepper
– 2 Onions
One-pack ready serve Tortilla Wrap
Filling:Prepare sirloin steak and marinade it with your own special sauce or you simply use your favorite barbeque sauce, and then add enough salt and pepper to your liking. Put the marinated sirloin in the fridge for a few hours for the marinade to seep into the meat, the longer the meat are marinated, the more flavorful your meat is going to be.
After your meat is ready, put in on the grill or simply pan seared until it reached medium well. Once the steak is ready, pick it off the grill and let it rest for a bit.
Salsa: To make salsa first you have to clean the green and red paprika, and tomatoes from its pit. Dice the tomato and paprika, mince the garlic, and put it all into a mixing bowl. Add extra virgin olive oil and 1/3 of the lemon juice, salt and pepper, and then mix everything evenly. Next mince the coriander leaves and mix it well into the bowl as well.
*Note: You can also use fresh Mint leaves as an alternative, if you decided to replace the beef with lamb.
Caramelized onion: Making caramelized onion is very easy; peel the onion and slice thinly. Then stir-fry using olive oil for 10-15 minutes using medium heat until onion turned brown. Then drain.
Serving: Reheat the tortilla wrap on a frying pan without using any oil for 10 seconds on each side. Thinly slice your grilled steak and place it on the tortilla wrap along with the mix greens, add salsa, caramelized onion and sour cream (optional). When you have all the fillings in place, carefully roll your tortilla wrap like you’re making spring rolls.
*Note: You can replace the sour cream with chimichurri sauce, honey-mustard sauce, or basil pesto sauce according to your personal taste.
Serving Time: 25-30 minutes
2. Banana & Strawberry Compote Wrap
This recipe is super easy cause it uses a lot of ingredients that are available in most homes, and would make a great snack while watching random TV shows.
– Tortilla Wrap
– Banana Cavendish
– Ice Cream
– 500gr fresh Strawberries
– Cream Cheese
– Caster Sugar
– 1 fresh lemon
Strawberry compote: Cut strawberries into two slice and heat the frying pan with medium heat. When the pan is hot enough, put the strawberries in, 4 spoon of caster sugar, and 2 spoon of lemon water. Stir until sugar starts to dissolve, then lower the heat and continue cooking for more or less 3 minutes until compote gets a bit thick.
When you’re done with your Strawberry Compote, reheat the tortilla wrap in the pan without using any oil for more or less 10 seconds for every side. While you’re reheating the tortilla, cut bananas according your personal taste.
Once the tortilla is done, remove from the frying pan and spread on the cream cheese, place the banana pieces, 2 scoops of ice cream and the strawberry compote, then roll your tortilla wrap and that’s it!
*Note: For the filing you could experiment with ingredients that are in your kitchen; chocolate chips, honey, fresh fruits, or even gummy bears, go crazy! When you’re baked the sky’s the limit!
Serving Time: 10-15 minutes
Hey, we never said it would be ‘that’ easy. It’s called a lazy Sunday activity, yes, activities you lazy ass. Now pass that spliff and start bakin’.
