The highly anticipated summer festival that is organized by Ismaya Live, We The Fest 2016, successfully entertained 20.000 people last weekend. It was held on Saturday (13/08) and Sunday (14/08). Not only music, We The Fest 2016 also served fashion, food and drinks to the crowd.
A lot of interesting acts played on day one. The main stage, WTF! Stage, filled by local musicians like Matter Halo, Dekat and HMGNC, followed by tropical songs by Sam Feldt, magnificent performance by Purity Ring, spectacular set by CL from 2NE1 and closed by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. The newcomer young local rapper Rich Chigga joined Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on their set.
Rich Chigga also performed at This Stage Is B.A.N.A.N.A.S., playing his hit single ‘Dat $tick” and new single “Who That Be”. He also did cover songs by Earl Sweatshirt, Lil B, and more cool rappers. The stage was also filled by amazing bands like Sajama Cut and the Submit Your Band Winner, Pijar. Polka Wars’ set was amazing. Herald Reynaldo of L’Alphalpha joined them on several songs. While Trees & Wild played their haunting set, rain poured pretty hard. But the crowd stayed there to watch Trees & Wild until the end of their set. Musicians from overseas like Dream Koala, George Maple and Hayden James also performed at This Stage Is B.A.N.A.N.A.S. Hermitude’s performance ended day one with music that made the crowd dance.
Day two of We The Fest 2016 was opened by Submit Your Band winner, Westjam Nation, followed by Dried Cassava, Kelompok Penerbang Roket, also Kimokal at This Stage Is B.A.N.A.N.A.S.. Barasuara’s performance was a starter at the WTF! Stage, made the crowd sing along. After Barasuara, the local legends Naif and Sheila On 7 successfully made the crowd jump around even it when was raining hard. Breakbot’s live set was supported by Yasmin and made the crowd dancing, followed by The Temper Trap’s performance. After that, the WTF! Stage was so crowded, people were waiting for The 1975. The WTF! Stage was closed by the Mark Ronson, and he surprised the crowd because he played that Dipha Barus feat. Kalulla hit “No One Can Stop Us”.
The Another Stage presented local musicians like Beeswax, Adhitia Sofyan, Deredia, Silampukau, and Submit Your Band winner, Hello Benji and the Cobra. But unfortunately, some of the performers cancelled their performance because of the heavy rain.
It is clear that We The Fest 2016 went really well and had massive success, even the rain didn’t stop people to come and enjoy the festival. We’re looking forward for We The Fest 2017!
