13 years after the fourth installment of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, finally comes the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 or THPS 5. With its release looming just around the corner, Activision has finally lift the curtains on THPS 5’s trailer so we can catch first glimpse of this much anticipated game.
THPS 4 was followed by the Tony Hawk’s Underground or THUG 1 and THUG 2 series, soon followed by Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland or THAW, Tony Hawk’s Project 8, and Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground of THPG with the addition of the less successful Tony Hawk Downhill Jam. After the Tony Hawk series was discontinued, we are faced with the next gen Skate series by EA. The Skate series presents a more realistic, natural way of executing tricks and landing them thus making it more difficult to play.
With more and more players demanding the return of the THPS series made Activision took notice and released another installment of this cult favorite. Although many gamers also protested on how the game looks like it should be released on PS2, but we don’t care. We need more games where gameplay wins over graphics. Not saying that graphics don’t matter but you wouldn’t want to play a great looking game with sucky gameplay and storyline, would you?
THPS 5 will feature a roster of pro skaters, including Nyjah Huston, Aaron Homoki, Leticia Bufoni, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Cole, Ishod Wair, David Gonzalez, Andrew Reynolds, and Tony Hawk himself alongside son, Riley. The game will be released on September 29th on PS4 and Xbox One, with a later release date for PS3 and Xbox 360.
