Way back in 1945, a man by the name of William Sianis put a curse on the baseball team Chicago Cubs, in which many believed to be one of the main causes that led to the club’s decades of title drought. The curse itself was then known as the Curse of the Billy Goat.
This year, the Cubs broke that curse and reclaim the World Series title after they defeated the Cleveland Indians through a 4-3 series win. It has been 108 years since the Cubs’ last title in 1908 so this year’s title is more than a well-received change.
Recently, Nike has made a video celebrating Chicago Cubs’ triumph over the curse and title drought titled “Goodbye Someday”. The video depicts a young Cubs fan envisioning all the various possibilities that exist on the diamond and an imagined celebration that has now become a reality in the Windy City.
So no more “Wait ’till next year” in Wrigley Field, it’s this year and hopefully, also years and years to come.
