NBA Commisioner Adam Silver has been hinting for a while now that NBA jerseys will, eventually, have advertisements on them so when the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings and the Philadelphia 76ers reveal their jerseys for the upcoming 2017/2018 season, fans aren’t really that surprised.
The new ads will be placed on the left of the chest area of each jerseys. Below we can see an example of the Celtics’ jersey with a General Electronics logo on it, while the Kings will be sporting the Blue Diamond Almonds logo and the Sixers will sport an ad for Stubhub.
It’s still unknown if each NBA franchise will feature advertisements, or if it’s left up to individual organizations to decide if they want to seek out additional revenue streams.
Here’s what Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca has to say regarding the issue.
