Trainspotting Sequel’s Trailer
/ 18 May 2016

Movies like Trainspotting are definitely hard to find. It’s been 20 years and we have to admit that no movie will ever beat the awesome cinematic red carpet scene with Lou Reed’s Perfect Day playing in the background or even the blue symbolic scene in “the worst toilet of Scotland”. We know good times couldn’t last forever but we’re all missing the five sneaky fuckers, so-called soul mates who have great personalities, just like heroine. You do remember Mark Renton, Sick Boy, Tommy, Spud and Begbie who were introduced by Danny Boyle in 1996, don’t ya?

Last year, we screamed “Choose life!” when Boyle announced both he and Ewan McGregor were on board to make a sequel to the postmodern film Trainspotting. The plan to shoot in May of 2016 apparently runs in accordance to their expectation. Yay! As to mark the start of shooting, Sony Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for Danny Boyle’s long awaited sequel to Trainspotting, though it doesn’t reveal any new footage.

The 45-seconds promotional clip gives a reminder of the madness and joy in the first movie over the sound of Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life”. Now we know that a potential new title is not merely a director’s joke. They are really going to call the sequel T2 with, of course, apologies to James Cameron ‘s dystopian sci-fi sequel to Terminator.

T2 is revealed to be based on Irvine Welsh’s novel Porno. Sets in the world of adult amusement as you read from the title and takes in the characters after ten years of the events of Trainspotting. This time, Renton and the gang are more into porn industry instead of being addicted to heroine but there are still plenty of drugs to be found though.

What’s more intriguing about the upcoming sequel is the fact that the four main actor Evan McGregor (Renton),Johnny Lee Miller (Sick Boy), Robert Carlisle (Begbie) and Ewan Bremner (Spud) have confirmed to come back. Not only the main actors, Trainspotting screenwriter John Hedge also returns to the sequel which is set to hit cinema in January 27th,  2017.
