We (here at Sub) spent most of our childhood in the early 90’s. There were no cell phones, no iPods, and the Playstation wasn’t out until 1995 or 96. So basically, all we had was the TV and some 8-bit or 16-bit console games. Among the TV shows back then, there were several destined to be great and legendary like Saved By The Bell, Alf, and our favorite, The Simpsons.
Every afternoon, when we were watching Matt Groening’s The Simpsons cartoon characters come to live on our TV sets, one thing is a recurring theme on every episode and that is Homer is an alcoholic. He spends almost every night at Moe’s Pub and drinks Duff Beer until his liver surrenders.
We, as minors at the time, can’t help but wonder what is this delicious substance that Homer keep chugging? And now that we are of legal age to drink, we simply can’t find it anywhere. Fret not mon cher, for that delicious, caramel-colored, nectar of the Gods are soon to be released. According to Jeffrey Godsick, President of the media company’s consumer products division, “Once you see enough piracy, you are faced with two choices. One is deciding to fight it, and the other is deciding to go out [into the market] with it.” on the issue of Duff Beer’s pirated version, mainly produced in South America.
The Duff Beer is to be released first in Chile, followed by more countries in South America and Europe in 2016. Woohoo indeed!
