The Boxing release ‘Heart of Me’
/ 6 June 2017

Leeds’ psych trio The Boxing release the b-side to acclaimed single ‘One by One’, the driving ‘Heart of Me’.

Replete with now trademark spiralling psych touches, ‘Heart of Me’ is the perfect foil to the lead track, whilst more than holding its own when listened to in isolation. The creeping sensation offered by the combinations in the introductory drums and guitar provide an eerie groove, which is abetted by rumbling bass. On top of this Harrison Warke’s lead vocals and guitars take it in turns to dominate the limelight, a piercing brightness peeping through the tonal gloom.

Completing the line-up are drummer Charlie Webb and bassist Henry Chatham, generating a surprisingly expansive sound for a band of just three people.

Drawing comparisons to the likes of W.H. Lung, Eagulls or The Vryll society, The Boxing are a fine addition to the burgeoning likes of both the current nouveau psych scene and Leeds’ blossoming alt rock renaissance.

‘Heart of Me’ was produced by Alex Greaves at The Nave studios in Leeds.
